Reading this article, it is the first time I have heard of the "Business Roundtable Statement on the Purpose of a Corporation." Apparently, in August 2019, roughly 181 CEO's committed to lead their companies to benefit all of their stakeholders while being purpose-driven and having a clear human focus.
A leader's job is not easy at this time because they have numerous competing priorities including meeting the bottom line but also to strategically navigate a crisis so they don't experience a talent drain once the market recovers.
Looking at the direction that a lot of businesses have taken to switch their production to aiding their local businesses and hospitals to combat this crisis, this has really touched my heart and has shown me that "business [can be] about pursuing a noble purpose and putting employees and human relationships at the heart of how a business operates." If leaders can maintain this humanity through the good times AND the bad, that is how a strong culture can be created.
Finally, it is important for leaders to remember to carve out time to take care of themselves so they can be the best version of themselves.
My top takeaways from the 12 tips is to keep it simple, concise and tell a good story. This allows one to create flow while conveying an idea in an integrated format.
Companies have the right to restrict employees on coming to work especially if they are exhibiting signs of COVID-19. To reduce the risk of discrimination claims:
1.Create and distribute a policy
2.Inform the employee as to WHY they are being sent home
3.Maintain proper documentation
