In the last couple of years, I have been consistently receiving questions about : "How come I apply for so many opportunities yet I am struggling to land a job?"....what am I doing wrong or what can I do better?
I believe those are great questions, however, candidates don't realize that there is a lot that you cannot control in the job search process, including:
1. Who your interviewer is and what some of their biases are
2. Who you are competing against in that specific candidate pool...you might have a lot of the desired qualifications BUT the other candidate might be a better fit
3. What if the company wanted to hire internally?
With that being said, there are definitely things that candidates can control, including - being Authentic, Branding yourself and Connecting (ABC) with others.
That is why I will be doing a mini podcast series on the ABC's on how YOU can be a highly sought after candidate.
Starting May 12th, each week, I will release a short clip on LinkedIn and share some of the insights that I gain from interviewing different Subject Matter Experts.
