This week, my Top 3 Favourite Resources are:

As the crunch time continues at work, it is important for leaders to understand and spot signs of employee burnout. By doing so, they can take preventative measures to minimize employee burnout. This article does a great job of highlighting 5 factors that are most correlated with burnout, the symptoms and signs to keep an eye on, followed by 5 tips to handle employee burnout.

This is a great listen for business owners, marketers and any individuals working on a team that deals with marketing, it is important to understand the difference between "Owned attention" and "Rented attention." If companies only focus on paying for ads on Google, Facebook, etc. that is considered rented attention. This can be disadvantageous if the platforms closes down or if the cost of advertising continues to increase.

According to Gallup, "Employee engagement is determined by factors such as feeling clear about your role, having the opportunity to do what you do best, having opportunities at work to develop, enjoying strong coworker relationships and working with a common mission or purpose." The 4 themes identified are:

  1. High-development cultures are CEO- and board-initiated.

  2. High-development cultures educate managers on new ways of managing -- moving from a culture of "boss" to "coach."

  3. High-development cultures practice companywide communication.

  4. High-development cultures hold managers accountable.

My biggest takeaway is the senior leadership team and HR needs to empower their frontline leaders to connect engagement elements to their business issues. Leaders can do this by involving employees in the problem-solving process, developing their employees, and recognising employees that exude the company's culture and values.
